I followed the tutorial by Andrew at VideoCopilot in order to achieve a shallow depth of field in a scene. I love the effect…except for one thing. When I import it to Avid, I find there is a lot of noise in the image. A shimmering almost where I have applied the “out of focus” parts. I’ve rendered out as a targa sequence, a QT Movie-Animation and an uncompressed AVI file. I get the noise in all three versions once I import to Avid. Any suggestions?

Make sure you choose the right import settings in the Avid system. They react very sensitivley to non-broadcast safe levels if project settings and import settings do not match. I don’t think that AE is to blame in this case.
