  Resize layer

  Hi
  I’ve created some moving text layers for a video of resolution 700×400, and I was wondering if I can use them on a video of 1280×720 without having to make them from the start, something like a resize. Is there a way to do it? Thanks a lot.

  Sure — you use the text tool in AE? I’m kind of sure that these texts are vectors… so they can be scalled to any size w/o loss.

  However, if I’m wrong you can just change the font size to meet your needs.

  OH — wait… I think I know what you are asking. But again, it will rely on the assumption that text is vector. In your new larger comp bring in the motion graphics. With it selected in your time line you’ll notice the box around it is too small for the new size.

  Click the ARROW tool or hit V and then resize the bounding box with the arrow.

  I think that will get you where you want to be. Make sure the resolution line is the solid / and not the broken \.

  Text-layers are indeed Vector Layers: notice that little ‘rasterize continuosly’ switch: you can’t even turn it off !

  If you have multiple text-layers try this:

  A sure-fire way to keep their positioning relative to the comp consistant:

  – create a Null Layer,
  – fit it to the comp-size
  – parent all your text-layers to the null.
  – copy-paste them into the new larger comp.
  – resize the Null so it fits this Comp. (Use fit to height or fit to width if the new comp has a different aspect ratio)
  – delete the Null.
