Premiere equivalent of Avid ‘sync point editing’
Hi,
In Avid you can switch on sync point editing mode: you mark an IN & OUT on the time line and park the playhead somewhere in between (on a music beat perhaps). Then, in the source viewer, you park your playhead on the frame of a clip you want to sync with your playhead on the timeline(you DO NOT set an IN or OUT in the source viewer). You perform an overwrite edit and the voila, your clip is edited onto the timeline and your chosen sync point in the clip is in time with the beat of the music.
Can you do this in premiere? It seems if you don’t have any marks in the source viewer then premiere uses the beginning of the clip as an in point.

Replace with clip: from source monitor match frame?
Place playhead on frame in clip in timeline, place playhead on frame in Source monitor.
Right click on clip in timeline: Replace with clip and select from source monitor match frame.———————————————–

Great stuff!
It’s not quite the same as the Avid version because you must have a clip already there to replace, ie. you cannot edit straight into a gap. It just means you have to cut a clip in first and then replace it. Nevertheless, this is what I was looking for.

It’s technically a 4 point edit except the playhead acts as a sync point. There are no marks on the source monitor so it’s not a 3point edit as far as the adobe help is concerned. Your previous answer seems to be what I’m looking for.

You could always begin the process with slug in place on the timeline along with your audio…
