  create clip from multi cam sequence

  I have multi camera interviews that have been synced with Pluraleyes and reimported into the project into a sequence. The different cameras are all lined up nicely in various tracks. I want to create a multicam clip – not a sequence – that I can bring into the source window and edit with, make in & out points, and drop selections into a cut.

  When I try to enable multicam it collapses the video down to one track but leaves the audio on two tracks – and of course it is still just a sequence – not a clip.

  I have been searching around and the option to “create multi camera source sequence” does not work because I have the A and B cameras in different bins – and with some b roll footage in there as well – and I don’t want to have to reorganize everything and then go through my 40 interviews and re-sync them all using premiere.

  Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

  Hiya…

  There is nothing special about a multicam sequence…

  it is a nested sequence in a new timeline…

  with multicam enabled on that clip (right click on it in the timeline)

  and

  using the multicam viewer in place of the traditional source monitor for making selects.

  this is available from the wrench in the record monitor…

  if you want to end up with non contiguous edit…

  maybe cut your multicam angles the way you want

  then go back and extract what you don’t want from your master?

  or you could extract what you don’t want to consider from you multicam source stack….that would work, too

  Hi Alex,

  I really appreciate your response.

  So I take that sequence – and drop it into another sequence. And then enable multicam – and then I can bring that into the source window and make subclips, make in and out point and drop selections into the timeline – and it will behave like a clip – even though it is a sequence. Is that right?

  Hi George…

  well…I suppose you COULD do that….

  but the only way to see the multiview is to enable it via the wrench in the record viewer…

  using this pretty much bypasses the source viewer for most multi-cam workflows….

  I think you’re thing FCP and PPro handles it a bit differently.
