  PP severe lag when switching between apps

  PP has begun temporarily freezing when I switch out of PP to another app (anything – Chrome, Finder, etc.) and then come back to PP. When I get back to PP, I can’t play/edit without a pause of about a minute, usually accompanied by the spinning beach ball. If I stay in PP, I’m fine. It’s just switching around. Even if I just go and click on the desktop and come right back, PP lags bad. And it’s not completely freezing… just not playing. I can scrub around, and do other things, but the timeline won’t play until the lag times out.

  Thoughts?

  Could be any number of issues, but without telling us the specs of your system, including media drive config and GPU, etc. there’s no way to help you.

  Also, what media type are you editing?

  Seems to be specific to my project, as I’ve just tried other projects and they work fine. I’m using Black Magic Cinema ProRes 422 4k footage on a MacPro (trashcan) and a TerraBlock.
