Color Correction Mask
I am hopping some of the more experienced editors can pitch in. I have shot a stand up indoor video and the backdrop had a reddish spot above the talent’s head that I would like to take out. It is very small but noticeable. I tried using the change to color filter with a mask but the results are not satisfactory. What is the best easiest way to spot color correct to match the rest of the bluish screen. Thanks

Duplicate the clip and place it in the track above it. Use the Crop effect (Effects/Transform/Crop) to crop the top clip down to a small area, like shown in the picture below. Then use the Motion tool to slide it to the right to cover over the red smudge. Add a little bit of feathering in the Crop tool to smooth out any edges. This will only work if his head never crosses in front of the smudge.

It served my purpose, but I can not figure out how to deal with the fade in at the beginning of clip and fade out at the end. I either get the box crop or the red smudge for about a second.

Put a Black Video clip on top of both layers at the beginning and then put a Cross Dissolve at the end of the Black Clip. Easiest way to fade from black when you have multiple layers.
