After Effects error: opening sound component (-2166)

that is the error message I get in After Effects 6.0Pro whenever I do a ram audio preview. When I open my project file, I can play it a couple times then it’ll give me that error. so I have to shut down AE and restart it.

I’m using footage with Canopus DV codec, my audio is wav pcm. my computer is an Athlon x2 +3800 with 2g of ram and a 250 hard drive. The sound card is an onboard so I don’t know but it has the Realtek97 driver.

Would anyone know why I’m having this problem?
    help is definately apreciated!
    thanks!

Whenever I hear that something works, then doesn’t, I think of RAM issues, where the computer works fine until it accesses a specific RAM chip. I could be wrong … but you could try using Task Manager to see if your RAM usage gets to a specific point before the crash… and try pulling out RAM chips to find a bad one.
