Here’s the quandary. I have a bunch of VHS taps that need a lot of color correction once brought into the PC as digital. They will probably end up being lossless AVI files with Huffy or Lagarith when imported. They will be YUY2 (4:2:2). It’s my understanding that tools like Premiere or After Effects, and maybe Vegas convert internally and work in the RGB colorspace.

    Questions:

Since I’ve been told it’s best to do color correction work in YUY2, does Premiere or any other NLE allow working in the YUY2 colorspace? If not are there others that do?

It’s my understanding the first step to video cleanup would be to run noise removal software on it. It’s also my understanding these tools only work in RGB like NeatVideo or Denoiser II. Other than completely moving to manual mode and using AVISynth, is there alternatives to remaining in the YUY2 colorspace?

    Thanks.
