  Premiere Pro not recognizing .XMP audio files from my Canon Xa10 Camera

  I recently got a Canon Xa10 camera and shot a corporate video with it, I exported it into Premiere and had video but no audio. A screen came up during import that said that the .XMP files were not recognized, it does play with sound and video on both the camera and in windows media player, I have shot other small videos with this camera, of just b-roll, that I did not need the audio and that seems to play the sound just fine, am I missing some step or a codec? I am running a slightly older OS, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  XMP is not an audio file format. https://www.adobe.com/products/xmp.html
  pls specify the video and audio format from your camera
