would like to make my footage look like a video game.

Like what era of video game… Old school atari … Nintendo, or like Playstations???

I would say either atari, or playstation. I know there is a big difference in the two. Just getting started.

If all you want is pixelated footage, use the “mosaic” effect.

and to get those altra annoying ly bright colors use solids and a tranform mode called hard mix…

Hey, I would think you first should choose your camera angles and the way the actors move/walk to emulate the game you want. There was a great episode of Chappelle’s show where they did a parody of GTA. There was no treatment on the footage, but we all know what was up when the camera and people moved exactly like the game.

That is brillent.. But what if our guy here is just the receiving editor the director and DP didn’t do that and now he is stuck… But no I totally agree with you, preproduction is were post begins.

You can tweak the movement by dropping or holding certain frames, to give it a choppy look that some games have. I think the first thing to decide is the type of game you want to emulate, and play that game with the whole creative team. Loads of ideas will come from that session.

thanks for your suggestions. I am just recieving the footage. I am thinking I want to go with an Atari look. Any suggestions on pixelated type text? Also I want to build an animated joystick any suggestions there. Thanks for all your help
