Adobe Creative Suite on Craigslist? Pirated?
I connected with somebody thru craigslist who is trying to sell Adobe software. His story is that he was previously an Adobe reseller and has extra licenses around that he is trying to sell.
He seems overly eager, and without any payment up front, gave me a link to download the Production Premium suite, and a license number.
I’m pretty sure something is fishy here, but curious as to exactly WHAT is going on. If I download the software and it activates, does that mean it is legit? If not, what does it mean? How does he have a working license?
I’m sure there are risks to doing this such as getting viruses. What are other potential risks? Could the license be deactivated at a later point if Adobe thinks it is unauthorized?

Just go to Adobe.com and either pay for CS6 or join CC.

Yeah I know, but I was trying to find a deal, especially since it is an older version… is there a second hand market for Adobe software?

There is on Craigslist and eBay but I would only buy from people selling authentic Adobe install discs and that can provide some sort of verification that they’ve de-activated the serial number associated w/the discs they are selling you.
Since Adobe (like all major software companies) uses activation servers to authenticate their products someone call sell you software with a used (or fake) serial number and that could prevent you from being able to run the software.
I would pay money, nor trust, anyone selling preinstalled software on a drive, burned copies of install discs or links to download software online.

I second Andrew’s opinion, and add to it that I was able to buy a perfectly legal copy of the CS6 Master Collection on *bay. My methodology was to first find the seller with the best feedback, then send the seller an email through the *bay system making them commit to giving me a full refund if the software would not register with Adobe.
I managed to buy the Adobe CS5 Master Collection for $890., a considerable savings, for which I was then able to get a free upgrade from Adobe to the CS6 version (plus $25. for the backup discs for CS6). I have also bought several of the Red Giant effects suites at a considerable saving over msrp as well. All have been legal, and registered just fine. If you do your homework and know the *bay system, you won’t get stung.

When was this? I own the CS5 master collection and nobody’s offering me a free upgrade to CS6.
