  *Custom Effects Presets Disappeared!!

  I have Pr 5.5

  I’m not sure if I reopened Pr and they disappeared, or while it was open, they disappeared – but all custom effects presets are gone and my custom bins are gone as well.

  No idea what the hell happened…never happened before and did some research and seems to be very rare – only found one case. It’s a huge setback if I’m not able to recover these.

  Any idea how to get the custom presets/bins back?
  
  To my knowledge and the digging I’ve done, doesn’t seem that presets are saved somewhere on computer without manually exporting them. Is this the case?

  Thanks, need to solve this immediately so soon as you can spare a minute, I’d be grateful

  These presets are stored in a file called “Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset”. On CS5.5, this file should be located in your Premiere preferences directory. CC keeps it in the user profile directory.

  Search your computer for a files ending in .prfpset to see if it’s hanging out somewhere.

  If you don’t have it, or if the one you have is empty, perhaps you have a system backup or use Apple Time Machine or a service like Backblaze and can recover it.

  Thanks Walter, yeh…didn’t recover. Imported that preset and it only reimported the new custom presets I’ve created.

  Weird. Have you ever heard of custom presets and bins just disappearing like that?
