Hello! I’m attempting to output my project for my colourist and I have leaned that Premiere does not trim interlaced footage. Are there any workarounds for this insane issue? One quarter of my project (feature length documentary) uses 1.16 TB but I only need to output/convert 25 GB of the USED footage.

Do I have to move and copy all of it out of Premiere, untrimmed, and then create an XML from that new project, so I can media manage in FCP? And then my colourist can work in Davinci and finally convert only the used trimmed clips?

Hope this makes sense… Someone PLEASE HELP me with the most streamlined workflow possible!

    Thanks!

    Is the source footage H264?

From my tests, Premiere can’t trim source footage – so it will take everything in the clip.

trimming with ProRes source footage works fine. Just the edits get exported

    Anyone else confirm this?

I’m having a similar issue. It seems like most of my clips are being trimmed (most of them are 29.97 1080i). However, it appears that my multicam files aren’t being trimmed. I saw your issue with interlaced footage and thought that might be part of my problem. Did you ever find a work around?

Scratch that. I think it IS because they are interlaced. It looks like all footage that is interlaced (pretty much the entire doc) isn’t getting trimmed. This seems ridiculous that there isn’t a fix for this yet. Anyone?
