how to keep all software when changing to new mac pro?
Posted by Kent Beeson on June 6, 2014 at 2:52 pmAbout to receive new mac pro – how do I continue to use all my software from my old mac pro to new? Motion 5, all adobe cc products, tons of other apps – do you just transfer the apps from a hard drive to new mac pro or?

June 6, 2014 at 4:54 pmNo…you reinstall them from the installers…be they DVD or downloads. ALWAYS install fresh, never transfer. Many installers install other files in the system libraries, and copying the app won’t get those needed files.

June 6, 2014 at 6:37 pmIf your new Mac Pro comes with 10.9.2 be sure to clone the drive the second you get it. DO NOT upgrade Mavericks to 10.9.3 with Adobe CC. Lots of headaches with the AMD graphics cards in the new Mac Pro, but hopefully the fix will be released soon. Save yourself the headache and sit on the old release for now.

June 7, 2014 at 12:37 amSo are you saying in the case of MOTION 5, I’d go to apple website and re-download it, and apple knows it’s me that I’ve already paid for it, without charging again?
How to do for Adobe CC everything? Same, go to adobe and download everything – again?
