XMP Metadata created in Premiere not searchable with Bridge?
I am working on a 13 episodes TV show and need to identify shot content using Metadata. Each episode will be a different Premiere Project.
I want to be able to search through all the footage at once to find specific shot and bring them in another project if needed. So I was under the assumption that I could add values in the XMP Comment Field in Premiere and be able to search that with Adobe Bridge. I did a test and Bridge don’t find anything. I tried searching “All Metadata” in the Find Dialog box in Bridge and nothing comes up. What am I doing wrong?

There are some prefs in PPro with regards to syncing PPro metadata with file xml metadata. They may not be enabled by default.
Also make sure that the media containers you (mov for example) support embedded XMP.

Thanks Alex for you answer. I link PPro comment box to XMP so they both carry the info I need. I work with .mov files too. So it should work but Bridge don’t find anything. Is Bridge able “look” at the XMP in .mov files?

We tend to mark keywords in Bridge and search keywords in Bridge to bring material in the apps.
So I can’t speak directly to that workflow.
Looking at the FIND criteria in Bridge, does any of criteria match a field that you are hoping to append to?
If you manually navigate to a metatagged file in bridge, can you examine the file and see it tagged?

OK….don’t forget in the project panel of PPro…you need to expose the metadata field to tag.
I chose Dublin Core, description.
I then added a tag to a mov and it showed up in Bridge….
so the connection should work.
but I think you have to work in the confines of available fields from what bridge sees.
there should be enough there to give you basic search structure….

I tried to use “Log Comment” Dialog box. Since it can be found both in XMP from Premiere and in Adobe Bridge. Bridge don’t find it. If I reverse the operation, meaning I write a Log Comment in Bridge (of course bridge can now find it), bring that clip in Premiere and check the XMP the comment from Bridge is there.
Seems to me that Premiere lets you think that it writes to XMP but actually it’s not.

I found out something else very important. Since I am French Canadian I write text with accents. Bridge don’t like accents. It won’t find anything with accents even though you search the same word with an accent.
