That is correct. Titles do not convert from Premiere Pro to After Effects. You must export them as images, recreate them in Ae, or maybe dynamic-link them from Pr to Ae.

That is what I figured, but I think Adobe needs to look at way of handling that. Thought it was all integrated now. I wasted an hour building something, finding out that premiere cant handle what the client wanted, (which was simple) and then having to start from scratch in AE. He seemed dumbfounded that I had to reset all the type. And so was I considering that Title Tool is fairly robust.
Every new element in Title Tool should open in AE as a layer element of another composition, in place with sizing and font info. Just another hurdle in the transition from FCP to all Adobe.

I have a blog entry where I cover the most direct way to do this…though it’s still a bit of a pain.

Keep in mind the titler tool is basically the core tech from Inscriber… The vector engine and text engine are different from Photoshop and Illustrator, so it isn’t a straightforward process to link them up.

    …though I’ve been an advocate of un-neglecting Premiere Pro’s Title Tool for a decade…

Yeah….there are so many workflow gotcha’s with titler….which is a shame because the image quality is quite high.

but considering how many other layout tools are in the arsenal…

maybe it’s time to relegate that to “title tool classic”

Not until the text capabilities exist in some other application…
