Best NLE for correcting audio/noise reduction ? ?
Guys, when you don’t have a sound editor,and you’re in charge of the audio editing as well ,in which the MAIN thing is reducing background noise/hiss while improving vocals ,which software has the best features ?
I use Premiere pro for editing,and the problems are:
– The ‘Denoiser’ function is adaptive,so the effect kicks in only few seconds after the audio starts and keeps fluctuating throughout the sequence ,so not very reliable
– Adobe Audition has a good ‘noise print capture/removal’ process but it allows it to appl this only to individual clips and not an antire track/sequence so it will take ages to appl it individually to 100+ clips or so.
So how is the audio fixing capabilities in FCP and Avid ?
What do you guys do generally ?Thanks in advance !

export the audio from premiere so you have it all, then bring it in to Audition.

Thanks Chris ! You mean export as an AIFF/OMF file and then work on it using audition ?
Is that what you normally do ?
How about just trying to adjust the volume levels manually in Premiere Pro -bringing it down where there is noise in the background and increasing where there are dialogues spoken

At our facility I hand the audio off to one of our audio engineers who use Pro Tools HD.
But yes, if i didn’t have that option, I would export an omf or send to audition to use it.
I’ve never been a fan of doing all the audio post work in the video editing software,
it just doesn’t work as well as a dedicated sound application. -
When I’m wanting quick and dirty, and don’t want to take the time to bring the audio into protools for sweetening, I use SoundSoap. It is very easy to use, and does a great job at cleaning up background noise.

In Audition you can drag/select consecutive clips in a track and ‘merge’ them into one clip (as long as all the clips have the same number of channels)… and when I say ‘consecutive’, there can be gaps (no audio) between the clips.
