  Quicktime not working on Windows 8.1 machine & Adobe Pr

  We’ve really racked our brains on this one…

  So we have two windows 8.1 PC’s and we’ve installed quicklime from the apple site on them both.

  SOME ProRes files playback in QT SOMETIMES. SOME h.264.mov files playback in QT SOMETIMES. 90% we get errors stating quicklime cant playback the files at all. Thus nixing our ability to handle quicklime in Pr.

  The X-Factor here is that QT files will playback in VLC but without audio.

  We have uninstalled and re-installed.

  Even clicked the option to install legacy elements during the installation.

  Nothing.

  I thought it was the machine, but it’s happening on both of our PC’s.

  Thoughts?

  Have you tried to install Avid LE codecs?

  Are the extensions .mov or .mp4? I believe there are issues with .mov unless you have the Quicktime Player.

  .mp4 is supposed to play natively in Windows Media Player, Flash Player, etc…..
