I’ve got my first HD project coming up, a simple 3 minute ‘wallpaper’ job for an exhibition. We’re shooting in HDCam. As we don’t have any HDCam editing kit, I’m wondering about the possibility of ‘editing’ it in AF7. It should be straight forward cuts, I could get the footage onto an IDE drive on the system and then go from there. I guess I’m asking if this can be done. I’m thinking of using a friends axi le system to capture the material from a HDCam deck. Any hints on codecs and workflow, or general insighs would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks

I’d guessed that proxy files would be the way to go. I haven’t really had much experience using them – I’ll brush up! I’m wondering though about AFX being able to handle the HDCam files, and whether the work flow I’m thinking of would actually work. At the end of the day, the shot list will be very minimal and there’ll be very little ‘editing’ to do.
    cheers
