  Audio crackles

  I am having a problem with audio.

  I have a massive project that has 24 sequences that are each about 10 minutes in duration. The sequences have 4-5 camera angles and have a single stereo audio music track. When I pan the channels left/right (-100 and 100) the right channel has constant crackling. The tracks do not sound like this in any other application. The levels are running at about -15. If I pan the audio to center (0) the crackling goes away. If I reverse the pans (100 and -100) the crackle follows to the other side and comes out the left speaker. If I create a new sequence and drop one of the stereo audio tracks into this new sequence I get the same crackle.

  Oddly enough, this is my only project that has this crackling. All my other Premiere projects sound fine. I am using a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Express, but again – all my other projects sound fine. This project used to sound okay but this all started about 2-3 weeks ago and I cannot get it to go away. When I output the project to an H264 the audio sounds fine.

  I use FCP-7 and when I use an mp3 track I sometimes will get a crackle. I always have to convert my mp3’s to aif to avoid the problem. my mp3’s will sound great on any other player except FCP-7,

  Thanks for the reply. It’s not the same as the FCP7 mp3 crackle. I never had much luck using mp3s in FCP so I always converted them to aiff before editing. This problem in Premiere is in one channel only, and the file is a 48 kHz/24 bit wav file. On top of that – the files played perfectly in this project up until 2-3 weeks ago.
