Premier Pro CC Pro Res export choppy/skipping frames
I recently switched from FCP to Premiere Pro.
I’m cutting a 10 minute piece. All of the media is Pro Res 422, 23.98, 1920×1080. The piece is fairly straightforward, a few color correction filters applied.
The sequence settings are custom to match the source media (23.98, prores, 1920×1080). When I export prores (without modifying settings– ie: in the same format as timeline), it takes an hour to export the 10 minute piece. And, upon playing back the exported file, every 10 seconds or so, the file skips. I don’t know exactly how else to describe it other than it feels like 5 or 6 frames are skipped.
I do not have this problem when exporting to a different format– h264, for example.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Is it just a question of Premiere not playing well with ProRes, or might I be missing something regarding sequence or export settings?

Not sure what the problem is, but here are a few ideas / questions…
1) The latest version of ProRes that might be in Software Update breaks Premiere… at least that’s what Larry Jordan’s newsletter said last month. But now I can’t find that article. Shoot.
Just make sure you don’t have ProApps QuickTime Codecs v1.0.4, if you can.2) Are you using Hardware or Software acceleration on your sequence (OpenCL)? Are you using Maximum Render Quality or not? What video card do you have?
3) Have you tried deleting all your preview files? Are you exporting using preview files? Turn that off.
4) Are you using Export or Media Encoder? Try both.
5) Can you try and export on a different machine, maybe one with OS X 10.8.5?

I managed to track down v3.0.3 of the ProRes codec (the current version is 3.0.4). That seemed to do the trick!
Exports still take forever, but at least they work.
