I was working on a major project last week, everything was swell. No problems. I rendered it all out, and saved a copy of everything.

This morning I noticed that my computer had done an automatic update of the operating system. Thought it was interesting, but no cause for alarm.

I needed to make a couple of minor changes to the video project ( just shortening the duration of a lower third graphic over video) and after making the change, I could not render the change (red line at top of timeline)

I get a box with this message: “Video Preview Error Error compiling movie. Unknown error”

I have to think something in the upgrade to OS X (10.9.2) has made my Premiere Pro CC unhappy. I am running the latest update of PP and had no issues at all before this morning.

Can anyone please give me some guidance? I need to get this done. Thanks in advance.

Some users of the new Mac Pro have reported problems as well under 10.9.2.

My suggestion is to turn off any CUDA (or OpenCL) rendering. Just use the good old Mercury Playback Engine Software Only to render out your project. I assure you it’ll be slower, but I haven’t read problems related to using that aspect of the Mercury Engine for rendering.
