Exporting MPEG-2 codec video in .MXF wrappers?
Hi,
I’m desperately trying to create some commercial deliverables for TV broadcast in the Netherlands, and the requested specs don’t seem to be do-able with either Premiere or Adobe Media Encoder.
Here’s what I need:
Container: MXF
Pattern: OP1a
Codec: HD MPEG HD422 Long GOP, 50 Mbit/sec, 1920×1080
Video requirements: HD 1080i50
Audio format: PCM 24 bit@48 kHz
Frame rate: 25 fpsIt doesn’t look like even Resolve can handle encoding this format.
In case it helps, my master files are ProRes422HQ Quicktimes 1920×1080 23.98fps
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

AME CS6 and CC can both create MXF OP1a XDCAM HD 50 1080i50. Are you not seeing “MXF OP1a” under the Format menu?

I am trapped in the same problem!
I need to export to such broadcast requirements (MXF & MPEG2) and I do not see any option in Adobe CC. It doesn’t come up in the menu when choosing MXF. How come? Is it because my original file is a ProRes?

I have seen this happen from time to time. I have reached out for further assistance, but in the mean time can you please try signing out of your Creative Cloud account and logging back in? Also, does MXF OP1a show as an available export format if you try to export a sequence directly from Premiere Pro?

Find attached 2 snapshots with details on the menus “Preset” & “Format”. I can choose DNxHD MXF OP1a and DNX (36,145, etc…).

What worked for me was exporting from Adobe Media Encoder. If you have a Creative Cloud subscription – even just a one-app Premiere subscription, you should have access to this application as part of the bundle.
Here’s a screengrab showing the presets that are relevant – under Broadcast > MXF OP1a > XDCAM HD – at the bottom, select XDCAM HD 50 and you’ll find that the resultant codec is MPEG-2, although AME doesn’t make that clear in the label.

Are you using a volume or enterprise license of the Creative Cloud? If so, you may need to contact your system administrator to have them reserialize with the proper license that includes the video products. An incorrect license can lead to certain formats not being present in the application.
