    Hey guys,

Got an edit consisting of talking heads, gv shots to overlay, and a backing track.

Put together an edit, dipped the music at all the correct points, added transitions then watching again the next day, decided it could be tightened up, but when I tried to do a Roll Edit on my audio transitions, Prem won’t let me, instead I have to delete the transition, do the roll edit, then reapply the transition, which is a pain.

Any idea if there is a way round this?

On a side not, the fact that you can select lots of cut points, and Roll Edit them all at the same time is great, just wish you could keep the transitions on there.

I’ve noticed that as well with video tracks. I haven’t been able to find a solution other than delete the transition, roll edit, add a new transition, which is a pain. Strange thing is I don’t recall it always being like this??

Yeah, definitely an oversight I think.

    Time for a feature request….

With the edit selected hit T to go into the trim window. Very easy to tighten up either side of the edit whether audio or video without interfering with the transition.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response, but it’s still not quite what I’m after.

I want to be able to do it direct in the timeline just using the roll edit tool, it should be as simple to do it with transitions as it is without, an absolutely basic feature of an NLE.

I shouldn’t have to open a separate window.

Then just hold down option/alt when you drag.

Thanks, but still not sure what you mean Paul.

I just attempted to alt/option and roll an edit with a transitiomn applied directly in the timeline and it still didn’t work, it just showed the Roll tool with a red cross through it.

    Are you on CC?

    Yes, CC 7.2.1.

Seems very odd that you can get it to work and I can’t.

Yeah, I can highlight the cut (red bar) under the transition and option drag it, option left/right arrow to nudge it or put it in the trim window. Can do all the same with ripple edits (yellow bracket) as well.

    Aha!

I see what is happening here Paul, there is a very very small difference between hovering over the cut and the transition and just the cut.

There is a tiny gap above and below the actual transition where I can select just the cut and roll it. Very small and fiddly though, certainly not a quick click and drag.

Seems to me like they should make the whole thing accessible, not just the tiny visible bits of the cut.

    Thanks Paul.
