I have a greenscreen sequence and have used UltraKey and a garbage matte on each clip to key background. Everything looks and plays great in PPCC timeline. But when I render out via Media encoder this is what I get. I’ve cleaned memory cache, cleared cache files, tried rendering first, reboot computer, nothing works. If I direct export with Media Encoder rather than first to the que, it outputs visually fine, but throws audio out of sync. The source material is ProRes444 in a DNX 720p sequence (this is what PP picked when I dragged footage on sequence). I have the footage track with UltraKey over a solid color background. I do have mixed audio some at 48K (sequence set to this) and some at 44K, but that has never caused me trouble before. I’m stumped and under a deadline! Yikes! Help!

Frame grab from video exported via Media Encoder

    Frame grab from the sequence.

    Thanks!

Are you using GPU acceleration? You might try turning that off.

Just tried switching gpu off. That didn’t work. Still a problem

The garbage matte has always been buggy. I usually just do the keying in AE since it’s much cleaner.

You could try using crop instead of GM, but of course, you only get 4 point. At least that may get you through this project.

Could not solve, but workaround was to export as ProRes444, then bring that into AME, re-encode to web spec. Why this is happening???? Clearly a bug with UltraKey.

We use UltraKey on 80% of our material and we haven’t run into that problem.

    Two differences that may help track down the problem;

    1. we haven’t used the garbage matt with UltraKey

    2. we export directly from PP, not placing it in the ME queue

I use Ultrakey on 100% of our green screen work with
the garbage matte or crop and never had any problem
    with exports.

    mac premiere cc version here.

I experienced the same problem on a project I did around Christmas time. Ended up passing the footage onto my AE guy because I couldn’t hack the protracted output times as well with AME.
My feeling this has to do with PPr 7.2.1 because I’ve had a lot of other export problems as well. Even a sequence with just the Fast Color Corrector on the clips would take 5 times as long to output than if I used the 3 Way Color Corrector (which I hate) instead. Something’s not right with 7.2. It’s uncool when they tell you an upgrade is for “Bug Fixes” and it ends up creating a whole new slew of bugs.
I reverted back to 7.0.1 and did a test with the Ultra Key, and the headless speaker got his noggin back. Output time was considerably reduced as well. I did turn the GPU acceleration off though.

Try turning off the “Enable native Premiere Pro sequence loading” preference in AME.

Ultra Key is the way to go IMO.

I have also run into other export issues we could not get around (Listening Adobe?)and ended up exporting a Hi-rez Master and then more compression, what a pain.

So Joe, you had the identical issue as I did? Top half of footage cut off? Very weird. I mean we should be able to use UltraKey with a garbage matte and export via AME any way we want. Fix this Adobe!
