  Multi-Machine Render – One Machine Renders Darker

  I’m doing a multi-machine render with 3 dual-2gig-G5’s, after effects 6.51 and quicktime 7.1.
  One machine insists on rendering the quicktime footage portion of the project Darker than the other two.
  The rest of the frame matches the other two machine’s output, just the portion that is a dv/dvcpro quicktime comes out darker.

  Another strange thing, possibly a clue: Opening the original dv/dvcpro footage in quicktime on the “good” machines, the movie info shows the format as “dv/dvcpro.” Open the same file on the “bad” computer and quicktime’s movie info shows it as plain old “dv.”

  Many re-installs of AE and quicktime, trashing of preferences, running of utilities, fixing permissions, have done nothing while my deadline looms ominously.

  Any thoughts?

  As a workaround, could you re-render the entire footage to TGA (in a simple comp) on one machine, then replace the DV footage with that and try the multi render again?

  Just a thought, to take DV out of the multi-machine mix.

  While this doesn’t “fix” the problem, this is absolute genius! I’m now going to make my deadline. You’ve saved my job!
