  Premiere Pro CS4 Audio Sync Issues on MP4 Import

  Hi, I’m an Adobe Premiere Pro user, and I could use some help.

  I know that threads like this have been posted before, but none of the ones that I found seemed to explain a clear solution to my issue. So, I’d like to clearly state my issue along with any other information that might be helpful, and, hopefully, someone will share a reasonable solution.

  I have 24 hours of MP4/M4V 720p, 29.97 footage (24 one hour videos) that are meant for delivery to YouTube. I need to edit these particular videos before they’re delivered. The audio sample rate of these videos is 44100 kHz.

  MY PROBLEM: When I create a new project and import one of the MP4 files, the audio becomes out of sync with the video. At the beginning of the clip, the audio is in sync, but, when I scrub to the end of the clip, the audio is very much out of sync. This problem is not present in the original footage file; when I play it in any media player application, the audio is perfectly synced with the video. This problem is present when the sequence is rendered as well.

  SETTINGS: Sequence type–HDV 720p 29.97 with audio sample rate changed to 44100 kHz.

  OTHER INFORMATION: Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 running on Windows 7 SP1, 64-bit.

  WHAT I’VE TRIED: I’ve tried rendering the sequence to see if the problem is still present; it is. I’ve tried deleting the PEKs and CFAs associated with the footage used in my project so that Adobe…would generate new ones; the problem is still present after new CFAs and PEKs are generated. I’ve tried starting over with a new project; that didn’t work either.

  I would greatly appreciate any helpful information and solutions that anybody has to offer. Please let me know if more information is needed. As you might expect, there is a deadline associated with this project.

  The footage was captured from an HD-SDI feed using a Decklink SDI and Wirecast Pro. The encoding settings in Wirecast were set to “YouTube 720p Recommended” (hence, the 720p 29.97 footage refered to in the first post).
