  • Combining projects without duplicate footage.

    Hey everyone,

So we’re working on a documentary and we’re looking for the best way to work collaboratively. While we were shooting we organized all of the footage in one large Pr project. Once the filming was finished, we duplicated the project 4 times and each person started working in different folders to create sequences of selects.

My question is, what would be the best way to combine these sequences in to one unified Master project without having duplicate footage in our project?

Theres a ton of footage, so we’d like to be able to bring in the sequences in to one of the already existing projects and have to footage link to the clips already in the project. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks,

    Hi Aaron,
Can you give us more info? Which version of Premiere Pro are you running?

In Premiere Pro CC you could import sequences from other projects, and then unlink media in those sequences. Relinking to original media should not be a problem. After you relink, you can delete any media you are not using.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

We’ve got CC. Now since I have the footage already in the master project, if I bring in a sequence in from a different project, won’t it make a second reference to the footage in the project window?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

The upcoming October release (coming soon) really makes this workflow easier.

    Cheers
