I’m editing dialog in CS6 and want the up/down arrow to go to the Previous/Next edit OR to the In and Out point like FCP7 behaved. Any way to make the up/down arrow do this without a modifier key? Is this “fixed” in CC?

    Hi John,

Make sure you have your tracks targeted (V1, V2, ect….)

This should work as you expect.

    Thanks Peter,
Track targeting still won’t allow the up/down arrow to go to the In/out point. It only goes to the in/out of the clip.

I’m looking for a behavior as in FCP7. Using the arrow up/down goes to the clip i/o or the set i/o points, whichever it encounters in the timeline.

Hmmm…don’t recall FCP going to Ins and Outs with the keys. No matter, though, make a feature request for what you want: https://www.adobe.com/go/wish

    Thanks,

With FCP 7 shortcuts selected, arrows go to in/out of clips. If you hit Shift i, or Shift o. then it goes to marked ins, outs in the sequence, or in source monitor if highlighted. I have no tracks selected.

Premiere CC gives you the option to set the up/down arrows to go to the next or previous clip in the timeline just like FCP (regardless of what tracks are selected). So yes, it’s fixed in CC but it’s not the default.

Justin, where is the option to make it default?

I know this post is a little old, but I had the same problem and figured out how to fix this, so hopefully it will come in handy for someone else (at least it worked for me):

You have to make sure the track you want to navigate around with the arrow keys is toggled on (click on the little V1, or A1, or whatever track you are working on, on the left side of the timeline). I had accidentally toggled the track I was working on off somehow (I’m sure it’s easy to do since it’s just a click to toggle on or off), so I toggled back on and it is working again. Hope this helps someone!
