Media Mismatch Message
I am relatively new to APP. We are transitioning from FCP 7 and this is my first project completely in Premiere. I am using CS 6. This morning, I opened my project and exported a copy of the Rough cut to post on Vimeo for review. After I completed that task, I went back to the project and there were a series of red lines on my sequence, wherever there was video b-roll associated with the sequence on it’s own track.
I thought the media just needed relinking though I wasn’t sure why so I tried to relink and I got the following message:
Media Mismatch
The selected file does not contain video media used by clip references in one or more sequences. These video clip references will be deleted, and cannot be undone. Do you want to continue? choose cancel or OK. I canceled and then they wouldn’t relink.I looked at the metadata files and it has no path specified for any of the edited clips in the metadata link field.
The initial sequence was all the interview footage which was shot on P2. All of the added b-roll was shot on a Canon Mark II. The only clips that have a problem are the clips that are used in the sequence. If they aren’t used they play back fine in the source monitor but if you try to load the used clips in the source monitor, they say they only have audio associated with them.
I even tried to start a new project and import one of the clips that I was having problems with from the camera master files and it imported as an audio only file. But if I open the clip in Bridge, you can see that there is audio and video associated with the file. This is not a good introduction to Premiere. : (
I have done a lot of work on this project and I’d hate to have to start from scratch so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Gussie

Hi Augusta I am having this same problem with Premiere CC, did you find anything to fix this yet? I don’t want to start my project from scratch either. Try to relink but it says only audio files are associated with the clip.

Hi all,
I’ve had this issue and I seem to of got around it with a similar solution used in AVID to rebuild databases. So if you select all of your media that is offline and move it all into a newly created Media/Rushes folder. Then I went to my sequence line and selected all the clips there and right-clicked, Link Media and click down to the new file path to your fresh folder and relink. This worked for me.
Previously trying with the old folder structures I got a message saying it was going to delete the audio or that the files were the wrong media type though the above worked. However saying that you may need to do more than once if you have rushes in various location.

i had the same problem if it happened again just rename the folder where the video found in and transfer it to whole the folder to another location then open the premiere and the media file link will appear again go and select the video from the new location and it will work

Hi there, I have the same problem. Tied with renaming and relocating folders but it didn’t work. Anyone has an idea how to fix the problem?

thank you !!! I ended up fixing my problem by moving the all my work folders(files) and re named the folders with and _1 … then I opened the project file up again and re linked the files and it worked 🙂
