Two camera interview editing techniques
Just looking for a few suggestions for a two camera interview.
Camera A is a closeup.
Camera B is a medium shot.
I have both shots synchronized with audio in their individual sequences. Now I am putting the sequences in the source window to trim them. I am going back and forth between the close up and medium shots in order to avoid jump cutting.
I take the trimmed sequences out of the source window and place them in the timeline of a fresh sequence. So far so good. Works like a charm. Back and forth from close up to medium and so on.
But now I want to go back and and rearrange the timeline a little bit and rearrange some closeups for medium shots and vice versa. I am looking for the in and out points for all the little trimmed clips and it just sends me to the original sequence in the timeline instead of placing the sequence as I had it in the source window with the in and out points.
This is annoying because now I have to search the sequence to figure out where my in and out points are.
I am considering just taking notes and writing down the in and out points for reference, but there has got the be a better way.
Any suggestions. How do you guys do this sort of editing?
