  Adobe Premeiere CC Feature editing

  I am knees deep in the per-production phase of a no-budget feature. here are some specs.

  Indie bro-mance road trip comedy
  Rural New Jersey As Locations
  Low-budget
  Editing With Adobe CS6(My own decent HP workhorse)
  VOD/Internet Distribution
  Hopefully a theatrical release eventually

  I was wondering if anyone had any advice on initial capture/editing workflow/output you might recommend. I know 4K is the next big thing, but my budget or my computer might not be able to handle it. I also want to know if DNxHD 220 at 10 mbps is good enough for a movie screen.

  I just finished deliverables on an indie feature for a major USA film studio.
  The movie I onlined was shot on Canon XLH1 @ 1440×1080 HDV 1080p 23.98

  You wouldn’t believe how good it looks based on that.
  Though I did make sure ZERO HDV rendering ever happened
  and deleted the renders that did exist after i took posession.
  The sequence compressor was switched to 8-bit uncompressed…it
  was the only option that worked to get it exported.

  It got a passing grade when it was QC’d and the Studios are happy with
  what we delivered. 1920×1080 23.98 HDCAM-SR & ProRes HQ files.

  Long story short, DNxHD 220 should be fine.
  I believe its actually 220 Mbit/s, did you mean 10-bit? it supports 8 and 10.

  But I would highly suggest upgrading your PC/Cuda or OpenCL enabled GPU and hopping onboard
  the Premiere CC train before you ingest a single file of footage.

  It will make your life that much less stressful.

  Thank you very much for responding so quickly to my post. I am in Adobe Creative Cloud member which I think is just amazing I have not upgraded to the latest versions yet but I am doing that this week. How much storage space did you use for all your footage?

  You’re Welcome

  1.5 Terabytes including ProRes HQ deliverables. (1.78 & 2.35 aspect masters)
  and all the various uncompressed 24-bit .wav file audio stems.

  total for HDV source footage and fcp 7 edit sequence and 8-bit uncompressed
  renders of 1.5hr feature was just over 1 Terabyte.
