  • Optimal export to media settings with GFX card?

    Hi all,

We have 8 and 12 core Mac Pros with PP CS6 and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 285 cards. Editing and rendering seems to work well but exporting media seems to take longer than it should. I have taken a 3 min video with no effects and it takes about 5 min to export the media. The source video is DVCPRO HD and the export is the same settings. As a comparison the same video exported out of Final Cut Pro 6 takes 1 min to export. Does this seem right? Am I missing some settings in PP? It would be disappointing if FCP6 is faster at exporting then PP CS6 with a CUDA card.

    Thanks,
    TD

There’s been a lot of talk about this. Pr does not work like FCP and does not export like FCP.

Yes I searched online I just wanted to check with the CC experts… so these results are normal? Does the GFX card help with exporting speed or does it just speed-up timeline editing and rendering? Is there any way to verify that the Mercury Engine is working correctly — the render bars turn from red to yellow when I switch it on but the CPU usage appears to be the same.

    Thanks,
    TD
