PremPro CS6 render
In a project, I have an after Effects project on the timeline. I render it, but when I reopen the project later the rendering is gone and has to be done again. Nothing has been moved. Why is this?

Are you using Dynamic Link? I just tried this and rendering previews provides me with a green line over the work area. after closing the project and then re-opening, the previews are still rendered.
You might want to give more information on your workflow because on my system it is working as it should. Unless you absolutely neet to there is really no reason to render your timeline before you output and PrPro is not really creating rendered files but rather Rendered previews, that you can use when you encode your output. The difference , for example, is that in FCP you would have to render to see your applied effects transitions ect in order to actually see what you cut. In PrPro with the MPE you can see your changes without the need for render.

I am using dynamic link to export to media encoder. because it would crash on not complete I tried rendering the section by pressing enter. the red turns to green then I saved it before exporting.
It shows it rendered (yellow) when I open the project, but as sone as it plays over that section it turns back to red. I am using the Mercury playback engine GPU CUDA.Alan Stephens

I am still confused, lets see if I understand correctly?
PrPro sequence with a Dynamic Linked clip with after effects comp in the timeline with a red bar indicating needs render. you the move your work area over the bar and render in work area. The bar turns green and then you save and reopen the project and the bar is yellow.
Is that correct or not? and, I am not sure where AME comes into play here regarding rendering, You will only use AME for output to encode a file.

Actually I’m not using dynamic link I am exporting to media encoder.
But everything else is correct.
I am rendering so I can see it play properly (smoothly). The AE logo close plays very choppy with out rendering skipping thru the frames. I have in addition to the AE file title text.
I got my computer specs to show up again, see below.1 press enter to render AE file.
2 it plays fine.
3 close project and reopen and playback is not rendered.

You are rendering out to AME to create a separate file not render a preview. AME is not used in conjunction with rending previews for viewing in the timeline. What codec are you rendering the “Logo Close” out of AE in?
Do this: drag your work area bar to match the “Logo Close” clip and then choose sequence from the menu and then choose “render work area”. the file then should hold it’s preview.

that works if I close the project and reopen, but not if I close Premier, then it opens back up unrenedered.

I am not seeing the same behavior, once the preview is rendered it sticks even after closing and re-opening PrPro.
Try this, in your Project panel take your “Logo Close” file and drag it onto the new sequence icon creating a new sequence with the exact same setting as the clip. What color is the bar above the clip. There could be a discrepancy between the clip and the sequence settings in your original timeline.
You have not yet shared your workflow or the clip properties, codec ect. of the suspect file and you are mentioning an after effects project in a PrPro timeline and using AME to export something that has to do with previews, so I am still a little confused on your workflow, because what you are experiencing is not the normal behavior of the application

I don’t know where the sequence icon is, but I did copy and paste into a new sequence and the bar is red.
When I render it holds until I restart Prem CS6.
Both sequences are DSLR 29.97. My project has some stills, h264 dslr video, mp4, and some HDV, and then the AE comp. At the beginning of the video I have a layered part with mp4, titles and a still with an overlay of fire using an alpha channel. It renders the section to yellow and holds after restarting Prem, but doesn’t play like its rendered. When the alpha channel comes in it gets choppy even though it says its rendered by the yellow. I just tried to render the entire 5 minute clip and Prem crashed and locked up. I had tp force quit.I opened the AE project in AE and is set to HDTV 1080 29.97. It doesn’t say what codec its using.Alan Stephens

It’s the button next to the trash at the bottom right of the project window.
You keep mentioning the AE project but you are not using dynamic link? Are you placing a file rendered out of AE into the PrPro sequence or are you using a Dynamic link.
Your AE comp should be set to the same settings as your PrPro sequence. If not using Dynamic link, move your comp into the render queue to export it to the location and using the codec of your choice. Then import the file into PrPro.
If using Dynamic link, right click on the clip or clips and choose replace with after effects composition or choose import after effects composition or New AE Comp that you can then send to PrPro.
You can also go from AE to PrPro but I find it easier to start in PrPro and then go to AE with Dynamic link.
Also the video is not “rendered per say” it is only generating previews and multiple layers with an alpha channel will not play back smoothly with only 8GB of Ram and using so many file formats in the same timeline.
