• Adobe Premiere Pro

  My premiere CS5 project is now so big that my computer keeps crashing…any ideas?

  Hi
  I have been working on a project for 3 months now and just finished it, but now before exporting a final file Premiere keeps crashing when I try to open it. Its 450 mb so has become pretty large? I am working on a PC windows 7.

  I am completely baffled as to why it keeps crashing. One other problem that I have recently had is that my hard drive with the source files on it has had issues connecting to the system which is probably due to faulty connectors which I hope to replace. However at present it is ok and should work.
  Any help out there would be grateful.

  The hard drive thing scares me a bit. You should make a backup of your media/project files in case the drive is on its last leg….

  As for the project, I’d start a brand new project and import the old one into it. Sometimes that helps. You can also clear out your cache (under preferences) as another step. If you import your project into a new one, save it as a new version and you may spend some time cleaning up your project – toss out unused files, duplicate media, etc. You may also find that splitting up your 1 project into 2 or 3 separate projects may help.

  Also, try to minimize the number of open timelines. Premiere sometimes struggles when multiple large sequences are open simultaneously.

  Hi Thanks so much for your response and I tried importing in to a new project and that all works…good solution. However I also had a look at a few Adobe Premiere forum threads and found out the problem,it is to do with the rendered files accidentally being saved within the project. So I went to Sequence/Delete Render files , then saved my project as a copy and it has gone back to being only 6 mb.
  Fantastic I can now export my work!

  That hard drive with the bad connections could very possibly have corrupted the PPro project. As Ryan suggested, you should back that project up, if it’s not already damaged beyond repair, or at least save a copy, and move it to another drive or removable media.
