CS5 Export HD 1920×1080 MOV file
Hello
We have been working on PC/Adobe CS5 Premiere and shot footage on the Canon 60D camera in HD at 1920×1080 resolution. We are having issues exporting as an MOV file and maintaining this resolution. When we manually change the resolution to exported file looks like it is too bunched up…(the only preset we see is to export it as 1920x 12XX) or some resolution close to that.
Is this a Mac/Windows issue with Quicktime or is there another way to export as a QT HD 1920×1080 file and maintain the resolution. we have tried many different combinations but for some reason cannot figure out a way to maintain the quality, ratio and resolution of the source video….
any info would be appreciated….we also fiddled with the frames per sec etc but I don’t think that would affect this issue….
I know there are the presets and then the settings down in the “Video” section at the bottom of the window…so we have tried many different combinations.

That’s because you’re working with anamorphic footage which is most likely 1440×1080 and Premiere Pro is automatically stretching it out to 1920 during playback.
When you export, make sure you have it set to export Square Pixels in the Export dialogue box. That will force the export to maintain the correct aspect resolution.

I am not sure I understand….our source footage is 1920 x 1080 and looks fine when exported as a WMV file and as Video MPEG2 etc…is there a reason why the QT files are looking different?

we can also try the square pixel trick but I think we already tried that…

Quicktime will play back the native format of the file. Again, I don’t think the 60D actually shoots full frame 1920 x 1080, I could be wrong, but I believe it’s shooting 1440×1080 anamorphic. I can’t find the specs online to confirm
