I recently upgraded my Premiere Pro to the latest version on OSX.8.3 and now my AVCHD files are not recognized. The are offline. When I try to import through media browser they I get the “unsupported compression” error message.
5 of the 64 clips are recognized by the way.

Anyone out there know what’s going on here? I loaded the files in prelude and transcoded them to another format that premiere recognizes but I really don’t want to use those until I’ve given up on figuring out what’s wrong.

Recently had the same situation on a PC. It seemed to be related to a faulty activation, making Premiere think it was in Trial Mode, in which AVCHD files aren’t supported, however some earlier imported AVCHD files were recognized. Also, I noticed that an upgrade was available, which was only visible in the Application Manager, not in any alert notification. After installing that upgrade, suddenly we were able to import AVCHD files again.

    Thanks,
My Robles started with the upgrade. I deactivated and reinstalled. Works fine now with 6.0.0. I think I’m going to wait before I update. 😉
