Custom Layout and editing handy stuff
Posted by Alex Rod on April 15, 2013 at 8:03 pmHi –
new to Ppro coming from FCP so thanks for the help in advanced.I want to easily duplicate a clip on the timeline to the layer above or below. On most adobe apps it’s a simple alt+drag to the next layer, but this does not work on Ppro. How can I quickly do this?
Also
How can I get the audio tracks to be expanded on every new timeline and the size to be specific to what I set it?
thanks

April 15, 2013 at 8:18 pmIn Premiere Pro Next you can do this just like FCP. For the time being I grab clip, hold down Option, drag to the right then release clip. I then drag with mouse to desired track.

April 15, 2013 at 8:48 pmThe next version of PrP that was introduced at NAB this year. Adobe is not referring to it as CS7 Premiere Pro for some reason.

April 15, 2013 at 8:49 pmCS next is PPro7 in our terms: as in the second coming basically.
It’s minted – almost literally everything that is bugging you right now about PPro 6 goes away.
there are tons of good vids at the link below – but this one deals specifically with the timeline – goes through track customisation, changes to the shortcuts, and saved layouts.
we get things like drag and drop speedgrade looks to adjustment layers on the side too. savage release.

April 15, 2013 at 9:03 pmah! I saw some cool features at NAB this past Tuesday…so when I came to the office and didn’t see these features (even after doing the latest update) I thought I was doing something wrong…being new with the software and all.

April 16, 2013 at 12:21 amHey Alex what version of PPro are you on?
In CS6 alt(opt) + drag to the desired track should work flawlessly. Tom does this not work for you?

You know what the difference between an idea and a “concept” is, right?

April 17, 2013 at 7:11 pmHi Alex –
I’m on 6.00
I got it to work! — Option+click/drag was the way.
I am so used to fpc that I was clicking and letting go of the opt key at the wrong time/sequenceYou have to hold opt then let go of the clip then let go of opt.
