If you have a new PC running more that 21 hyper threads, you might find it impossible to export any QuickTime movies. This is a result of the qt32server not being able to handle that many threads.

The work around is to go into Bios and turn off some threads.

I sure hate dumbing down my computer power to accommodate QuickTime.

    Tom,

Have you (or anyone else) tried to set affinity on the qt32 process in task manager? That’s a way to limit the virtual cores the process is using without changing anything in BIOS.

I’ve got a dual hex-core Z800 here, running with HT on and the QT32 server is allowed to run on all processors (I only have 12 options, not 24, in the Set Affinity dialog).

I have QT Pro version 7.7.1 and just tested an export…watched the performance graphs…the export wasn’t using all 24 threads, but it seems to work here.

Thank you Alex. Nice call. I tried it on the system and it works just fine. Its so nice to have it limited to qt32serve.
