    Hi there,

I’m currently working on some shorts in Premiere CS6. I need to get the final locked edit to the sound guy who will be using Soundtrack Pro. For the life of me I can’t get a suitable workflow for this.

The best method I’ve tried is using OMF files, it works well, but the only issue I have is that it’s re-exporting all the audio tracks with completely random files names
    for example: 27cb4ec1-84d0-4f5f-b5fe-cd97fed4dbec.6)
but the sound guy wants original names for checking logs etc.

I’m also using merge clips and some audio is in camera – I’d rather avoid having to give the sound guythe video files containing the audio.

I’ve tried XML files which Soundtrack Pro doesn’t like, an AAF files don’t seem suitable and are crashing on export with the project anyway which is another issue.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I’m at a loss with this!

I realize this is old but I’ve had similar issues. Adobe Audition handles these much better, which I’m slowly making the switch to.

Anyway, from Premiere export an OMF with separate audio files, as you did. With separate audio files, he should be able to link the OMF to them. Yes you’ll get those wacky file names you mentioned, but everything should be there. I’ve used this workflow several times for short form stuff. Although if long form, I could see this being a pain. For some reason STP does not like Encapsulated OMFs out of Premiere. But this same workflow of Encapsulated OMFs does work with Audition. And it maintains the file names.

Anytime I have to send Audio to another facility, I create encapsulated ones. Seems to be working for them. Granted their also using ProTools not STP or Audition. Hope this helps.
