23.98 to True24 for DCP
I am working on getting our reels out of Premiere and converted to True24 for a DCP.
Summary of attempts thus far…
Source content is 4k Scarlet at 23.98FPS -> send to Davinci for grade – output is 422HQ Reel (10mins) ->
Reimport into Premiere onto 24FPS timeline and export Tiff Sequence.Workflow thus far has been to get a completed reel from our colorist. He’s been giving us 23.98, but we decided today to try a true 24 version. Which will be eventually exported as a Tiff sequence.
So – can I take a 24FPS reel and put it into a 24FPS 2k Sequence then export a Tiff Sequence? Or do I need to take aforementioned 24FPS reel and run it in something like Cinema tools first – then bring it back in to export it as a Tiff Seq.
For audio we use an NTSC to FIlm conversion out of Pro-tools – seems to line up. The downside…I don’t have the funds to purchase the only Mac DCP player – so I must negotiate to get into the theater to test it – and it’s an arthouse. I don’t wanna burn their bulb out on my mistakes.
