Slow exports when exporting a nested sequence
Hey all,
I’ve got an HD project that is being exported to two different file sizes. The primary file is 1920×1080 H264 MP4, the second is a 640×480 H264 MP4.
To create the SD version, I’ve nested and scaled the clip into an appropriately sized sequence, and added a white matte to fill in the letterboxing (client’s request, not mine).
What I’m noticing is a considerable slow down when exporting. The HD version is taking around 30 minutes, the SD version over 3 hours (if it exports at all).
I’ve also noticed that when I attempt one of these exports there’s a lasting effect on my Mac as well, the computer it self becomes very laggy, with the mouse and keyboard not being as responsive.
So my question to you guys, what did I screw up this time 🙂

if your computer is too laggy then maybe you are giving adobe programs too much memory go to adobe media encoder cs6 ->memory -> memory reserved for other applications and make it a little bit bigger.
idk why an hd export takes less time than a lower quality version, i was going to ask pretty much the same question

scaling takes quite a bit of extra processing, that’s what’s up.
as ricardo stated, check your memory usage for adobe applications.
alternatively, when using windows you can adjust priority on the fly in the task manager. sometimes i do this when i’m rendering but want to have some music playing or keep working. that way by default it uses full horsepower unless i specifically need to do something else. is there something similar in osx?i’m not 100% sure whether or not nested sequences take longer to render per se. it would seem silly, but it could add an extra rendering step, especially if you had effects on the original sequence and then more on the nested sequence. safe bet would be to place all effects on the nested sequence (or don’t nest at all), but anyone know for sure how premiere handles this on export?
