Recommendation for sharing desktop/edit remotely with producer
What is the recommended way to share one’s desktop via an online chat interface in order that an editor and a remote producer can interact real time. So, the producer can watch the Program or Source viewer in real time to verify an edit or shot selection. Also, need a recommendation that is cross platform as editor is on PC and producer on Mac.
Would Skype or the Adobe Story be worthy solutions?

Provided there’s enough bandwidth – TeamViewer. Faster, better, nimbler than Logmein or Skype.
MS RDC and Terminal Server are great for IT types as they usually require some IT configuration.
Haven’t tried Adobe Story.

Skype, so far as I know, is usually limited artificially in terms of broadcasted/received framerate. There are articles on how to alter this for both PC and Mac which, bandwidth allowing, should give you a better experience.
Adobe Story is a completely different product. It’s for pre-production and script collaboration. You may be thinking of Adobe Anywhere which isn’t released, but is more for collaboration with others who know how to use media software than for live client review.

If you/editor is using the PC, they may find using the software xSplit to turn your screen into a emulated webcam is more stable in terms of FPS than direct screen sharing. FFSplit is free and may work as well.

I invite clients as a guest on my PC using GoToMyPC so that they can see my edit station’s desktop remotely. Because the playback of video on my computer’s desktop is choppy when viewed over GoToMyPC, I also stream them the edit live via HDMI out of my Blackmagic card to my HD Slingbox. I just give my clients my username and password for Slingbox and they see the edit stream in virtual real time w/o lag. This is a great tool for a client who wants to see constant progress. I no longer have to build a new .wmv or quicktime file every time they want to watch an edit. With this arrangement, I can also make tweaks during the virtual edit session which are immediately reflected in the streaming video.
