  Canon GL2 Device Offline

  Hello,

  Currently using Premiere Pro CS4, on Windows XP. Trying to “capture” from Canon GL2 via firewire, however the computer, (not just PP) will not recognize device. Not even getting the “hardware connected” beep tone. Of course, PP notes “capture device offline”. However, connecting a little JVC digital video camera with same firewire to same port, it is recognized instantly, and PP recognizes and captures just fine.

  I do have the AV->DV OUT turned “ON” on the GL2. Do you think the firewire port on the GL defective? Are there other options to try to connect the GL to be able to use it for capture with Premiere Pro?

  I realize some folks will say “simply capture with the JVC then”, but the camera availability is more complex than that. Need to be able to use the GL.

  Ideas?

  Is the camera in VTR-mode?
