  Premiere/After Effects, Advert Replication

  Hi all,

  I was wondering if anyone knew the most effective way to replicate the effect used in the achica adverts: https://youtu.be/qB83Y2c5Qu8 for example. I have a friend who knows Avid back to front and says it’s quite easy in that but I can’t see similar functions in Premiere at a glance and I’m not the most experienced in using After Effects (though I have seen similar transition effects in the Bridge). At least not enough to explore and understand everything I come across!

  I’m using CS6, if anyone has any tips and tricks I’d be really grateful!

  That’s just using keyed masks that wipe on and off. VERY easy to do.

  You key the video onto the masks, which are the blocks. Then you wipe the blocks on and off to create the effect. You might have the blocks moving a little to enhance the effect.

  I’d create all the masks in Photoshop and then simply wipe them on / off.

  Might be easier to do this in AE since it’s generally easier to copy / paste keyframes in that app than PPro.
