I’ve switched over from FCP7 to PPro. I’ve spent a good amount of time re-creating edit scenarious for practice that I’ve used often in FCP7. One place I’m finding a deficiency is in fx/transitions within PPro. I htink what I’ve purchased in third party stuff is great. A lot of it has migrated over from FCP7, but there are many instances where you want to use a directional blur transition between clips or a glow transition, or a lens flare transition.

Since I’m not finding these pluggins out there for PPro, is the only way to achieve these effects to bring the timeline into AE using dynamic link? Then there’s keyframing, etc to apply an effect.. which is ok, just time consuming compared to simply throwing a transition down in PPro.

Some of this can be done directly in Premiere above a cut or dissolve by keyframing effects on an adjustment layer [link].

Pr/Ae doesn’t have dedicated transition publishing like FCPX/Motion do, but of course you could select any two clips, replace them with an Ae comp, and do whatever effects you’d like in Ae via Dynamic Link.

Boris RED has a feature for building Pr transitions (this is the same thing as Avid FX):

As Walter said Boris Red 5 has a wealth of options. A very large library of transitions as well as powerful customizing abilities.

I found these and they are very very nice. They are not transitions but they work as composites in PPro.. but this is one of the best things I’ve seen yet as far as look. It’s a little back-doorish. But they are nice.
