Batch processing animated title sequences from text list ?
Hi all
We have a project coming up where we have to produce 250 individual video clips for use at a live awards ceremony. These would be used to introduce awards categories and the nominees/winners on screen. Each clip would have the title of the award, the nominee and some credits for the production crew.
I wondered if we could automate a batch process in After FX whereby we could make one project and then feed it a text list of all the winners’ details? Maybe we would even be able to have a couple of fields per entry by using a csv table or something? The ultimate prize would be the ability to also append a different video to the end of each title sequence, again from a list.
I seem to recall that I once saw a plugin advertised that might do some of this but I can’t google it.
Perhaps the alternative is to write a script?Any ideas would be very welcome.

Yeah, all of what you need can be done using scripts. You can already find several scripts loading text. just beware: scripts can change the source text, but not text properties such as font face an size, so you definitley need a template comp somewhere to define that. You should separate multiple text fields by giving your layers proper names – it’s easier to find a specific layer by name or index than just having one layer and having to fiddle with lots of invisible characters such as line breaks.
