    Hi,

I’m just about to start work on a job using C300 for the first time. I’ve been using FCP 6 for the last however many years but I think its days are about over now. I was hoping to have upgraded to the Avid platform before this job but that doesn’t look like its going to happen now. I attempted a job on PP CS3 when that came out and promised myself I’d never touch it again. Has its general stability improved now? If so does anyone know the best workflow for working with C300 footage in PP? I had a tinker with CS5.5 recently and still found that buggy…

    Anyway, many thanks,
    Jon

I too worked with FCP for many years. I tried Premiere Pro multiple times over the years and it never worked for me. This all changed when CS6 came out. I have moved on from FCP to Premiere Pro CS6 and it’s amazing how much better it is. My workflow is so much faster than it used to be. I haven’t had a file that it couldn’t play. Files that I used to have to spend hours transcoding or rendering, now just play in CS6.

Now saying all that, I have not worked with C300 files, but I’m sure you will be surprised at how much better Premiere Pro has gotten over the years. I just set the keyboard shortcuts to FCP and it’s like I’m working in a really fast and sleek version of Final Cut Pro.

If you put a NVIDIA card in your computer it will make it even faster. I have a NVIDIA GTX570 in my Mac 3,1 and I can do 7 or 8 layers of effects with no rendering needed, until the end.

If I’m not mistaken the 6.01 update added native support for C300.

Definitely get a supported GPU card, it really speeds things up.
