Need a simple component video card for Premiere cs5/6
Hi guys,
I need your help. I need a simple, stable component/HD video input/output/monitor card for Premiere cs5/6 (PC/Ci7 3930k). Like
Black magic Intensity Shuttle for USB 3.0 / Intensity Pro
or
Matrox MXO Mini
or
MOTU HD Express
or
which one i should choose? -

I had to replace one of my older kona cards that cs 6 doesn’t support
so I got a used black magic decklink studio for $ 199 on ebay. -
What kind of computer are you working? Are you on a laptop or a desktop?
I’ve had the MXO2 mini and was very disappointed in driver support. There is some cool tech in there, but it just didn’t “work” the way it should. Maybe they’ve upped their game since, but I wound up switching to the AJA IoXT. I take it you don’t have a Thunderbolt enabled laptop?
If you are thinking of the MXO2 mini though, take a serious look at the AJA Io Express. It’s an awesome I/O box with the same type of flexibility as the Matrox but has AJA quality and support which is in short, awesome.
Of the other options that you through out there, I can’t say that I really have experience with much MOTU gear for video but have had some great times with their audio hardware. Blackmagic gear is probably second in the industry to AJA but they produce a much wider product line than AJA so you may be able to find a product more specifically tailored to your needs. Blackmagic though is solid, decently reliable, and widely compatible. If you are ever thinking that you will use DaVinci Resolve, Blackmagic is the only hardware you will be able to use anyway so it may be the best place to go in terms of broad spectrum compatibility.

The OP mentioned “PC/Ci7 3930k” which makes it a Windows desktop. Unlikely to have TB, but very likely with USB 3.0.
I’d vouch for Decklink Studio vs. Intensity Pro.

Intensity Pro/Shuttle, which one is a wise decision?
Does Intensity Pro/Shuttle fully supports premiere cs6? Like
-Realtime monitoring/output to my HDTV/VTR from 1080i/P or 720i/P CS6 timeline? -
I have a PC with similar specs to yours and bought an Intensity Shuttle for USB 3. It’s a solidly-built box and does the job.
I found it a bit finicky to get working correctly. Be sure you follow Black Magic’s hardware requirements, especially in regards to the USB3 card and drivers. Seems that the “USB3 standard” is maybe not quite as standard as we’d like it to be. I eventually had to roll-back to an earlier version of Black Magic’s drivers and still have to occasionally fuss with it a bit.
In fairness to Black Magic, I’ve bought numerous analog capture/output cards and devices over the years, including several that were rather pricey. NONE of them were easy to get working reliably. You’d think we’d have worked past all the technical issues of analog/digital conversion by now.
