Hi! I’m still new to magic bullet denoiser, but I bought it about a month ago. I have a movie that I already edited and pretty much completely color corrected already, but then I learned of MB denoiser II and noticed there were moments that could use some light denoising. My question is, is it OK to just add the denoiser into the footage that’s already been color corrected? Or do I need to remove all of the effects first and then add the denoiser? I only ask because I’ve been told to denoise before color correcting, but in this case, I’d love to not have to start over, even if I do save the presets.

    Hi Nick,

I found myself in a similar situation a while back – I had completely edited and color corrected a two-camera wedding ceremony shot in HDV, and due to dim lighting in the church, I found the noisy video quality unacceptable.

I downloaded the DeNoiser trial and loved the results, so I purchased it (have since gotten the free DeNoiser II update). To fix the wedding that was already edited, I applied DeNoiser to the original clips in After Effects, exporting the results to new clips. The length/timing of new clips was identical to originals, nothing changed except footage was cleaned up.

In Premiere, I used File > Make Offline to unlink original clips, and then used File > Link Media to substitute the new, clean clips. Voila! Entire edited ceremony was suddenly clean!!

Hope you find this helpful. If you only need to fix a few segments, then maybe this is not the workflow for you, as it does require many hours of rendering for even a 30 minute clip.

    Thanks

I realize that Denoiser II requires a lot of computation to do its thing, but the render times are at least 5 to 6 times longer with it than without it. Previewing settings is extremely slow, and I am unable to quickly toggle Denoiser off and on to see a before/after comparison.

I am applying Denoiser II to AVCHD 1920x1080p footage from a GH2 camera in CS6 Premier Pro. The machine I am using is a 6-core 333MHz MacPro 5,1 tower with 32GB of RAM. Not the fasest machine in the world, but I presume it should be adequate for Denoiser.

Any tips that can improve my workflow and speed up this process?
Does Denoiser work better when applied directly to a video layer, or via an adjustment layer? An adjustment layer would be far more convenient, especially when turning it off for edits and quick (noisy) render tests.

Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated.

    cheers,
    Dave

I’m having that issue as well… not only is Denoiser 2 taking FOREVER to render (30 hours for 80 minutes of footage with effect applied on a CUDA supported Nvidia card, 32 GB RAM, Core i7 processor, Win 10)

BUT ALSO anytime I try to change something in the effect controls panel, changes I make to Denoiser don’t register (IN the UI panel, not talking about Program window) for a few seconds, and that only happens on the Denoiser 2 effect, none of the other effects have that issue when I change something… weird

I caved in and bought Neat Video’s product. I really like RedGiant’s tools, but their Denoiser vII is insanely slow. Time is money, and I simply can’t afford to wait for MB Denoiser. That’s not to say Neat Video is fast (hardly!), but it is much, much “less slow” than MB Denoiser.
